I ran an 18:03 for a 5k at sectionals last season. However, I was having a really good season and wound up straining my calf before sectionals. During outdoor track, I ran a 4:58 mile. to me, 1:803 5k does not match up with a 4:58 mile. I picked up the training to get to that point and have picked it up more this summer to hopefully run sub 17:10 in XC for the 5k...does this seem possible? Ive dropped at least 40 seconds each year I have done XC...

I run indoor and outdoor track and I always do better in my races when im in the front running alone, such as JV races. But when im in the varsity races my times are like 3-10 seconds slower. And i am the number 10, 600 meter runner in my section and i wont be in the front at sectionals(one of the biggest races of the year) and i want to know how to race it without being in the front.

I am a freshman lucky enough to go to sectionals my first year of my tennis season. Where we play is in outdoor courts and it is freezing. I watched my other team mates last year and just sitting there it felt like i was buried in a pile of snow. with harsh wind conditions, i need to know how to stay warm and play my best hopefully advancing farther. what should i wear or do before my match??? Help?
