My darling hubby and I are planning on pouring a concrete slab patio. We have a patio door that exits to this patio and needs about a three and a half foot flight of stairs. DH and I are a little confused about the most cost efficient way to construct steps. We want something that will go well with the concrete or patio stones so I don't believe wood will work very well and we're not sure exactly how to set up a frame to pour steps, set brick steps or build a frame that we can disguise with patio stones and concrete slab treads. I have been asked to refurbish my neighbors teak patio set (1 octogonal table and 4 chairs w/slats). I have refinished loads of wood furniture before but never teak. I know how to clean and seal it but just want some kind of a ball park figure on how much I should charge.

The set was a floor model... so they came with no instructions... do I use charcoal or is wood ok? Any help is gratly appreciated.

We live near a heavily wooded area where new homes are being built and all the displaced bugs seem to make their way over to our patio, hence the spiders. We don't really want to kill everything off if at all possible but we would really like to be able to sit outside without running into a web!!! Are there any good home remedies or sprays, powders, etc. that I can purchase that will keep them at bay and away from our patio? Has anything worked really well for anyone? We also have a toddler so we want it to be as chemical-free as possible.

But have not worked with teak wood yet. My neighbors recently asked me if I would like to earn some extra $ by redoing their teak wood patio set that they have owned for 7 years. They complimented me on all the work they have seen me do over the years and wanted to get my "professional" opinon. I went over and checked their patio set out and said I would get back to them in a couple of days. I've researched several websites and have gotten lots of ideas, but they are all so different in the how-to's. I would like to do a great job for them and make some money at the same time but am a little apprehensive. I would also like to know if anyone could give me an estimate or ballpark figure on how much one usually charges for something like this. It's a 5 piece octogonal table and chairs with slates

I have a patio heater that uses propane. I have a two tier cedar deck and would like to place the patio heater under the deck for when we have guests who smoke over. The problem is - the patio heater is only about 1 foot away from the top of the deck. Will this set my deck on fire or make a dark mark on the wood from the heat? If so, what can I put between the wood and the heater and how should I hold it up? A finishing nail will hold heat and burn the wood. Thanks for ANY suggestions!
